March 12, 2020 New West Genetics, a global leader in hemp seed genetics and local Fort Collins company is pleased to announce the donation of hemp fiber to The Farm at Lee Martinez Park, managed by the City of Fort Collins. The Farm at Lee Martinez is a much-loved local attraction for area families and children to learn about working farm life and learn about the care for farm animals. Lee Martinez has a host of farm families – from cows, pigs sheep chickens, to horses and ponies. Part of that care is clean, non-allergenic bedding, for which hemp fiber is a perfect solution. Wendy Mosher from New West says “We are proud to give back to our community in whatever way we can, we are so happy that our fiber is being recycled into bedding for the animals at The Farm. Hemp has so many different applications from the seed and grain to the flower and the fiber, this truly is a plant that keeps on giving.” Bridget Brownell, Recreation Supervisor, The Farm at Lee Martinez Park, City of Fort Collins had this to say “Hat’s off to New West Genetics for thinking about giving the leftover plant matter to The Farm for bedding.
